So, what’s with the name MonkeyPod Productions anyway? Actually, it’s pretty cool. The name and inspiration comes from the MonkeyPod tree, also known as the rain tree. A MonkeyPod tree can grow up to 80’ tall with an impressive 100’ wide, beautiful, large canopy. This canopy provides shade from the sun and shelter from the storms. At night, the leaves curl up and allow room for the rain to fall through and water the growing grass below. Sprinkled throughout the canopy are delicate pink flowers resembling powder puffs. When the tree is heavily flowering, the stamens from the flowers sometimes drop to the ground, like rain. After these flowers are pollinated, they will develop edible seed pods. The pods of the tree provide food for animals and nutrients for the soil.
